Breast Health

Making an effort to take your breast health into consideration is an excellent choice to make. And as easy as walking out your door.

According to the Alberta Cancer Board, research shows a strong link between increased physical activity and reduced risk breast cancers. Our lifestyles have become increasingly sedentary as many of us sit for long periods and rely on conveniences that reduce our level of activity such as remote controls and garage door openers. Inactivity increases our risk of premature death, chronic diseases, obesity and more. Physical activity can enhance your health. Breast Fitness and Breast Health the Natural Way are excellent resource books.

  • Learn how to do a proper breast self-examination (BSE) and have a clinical breast examination at your annual medical checkup. Determine your risk factors and discuss these with your doctor so that you can decide when to start having regular mammograms or thermograms.

  • Reduce how long you wear a bra and only wear ones that fit you properly. You may want to get a good sports bra for added support when you are out getting your daily exercise. Or you may decide to go bra-free.

  • Try to cultivate a positive attitude about your breasts and your body in general. Decide to love your breasts as they are. Ideally, your breasts will be your breasts for life. Changing your attitude is entirely in your power.
