Subject: Problems Using a Breast Pump

The pump I am using is turning my nipple dark purple. Is this normal, or am I doing something wrong?

Answer:

Your pump’s suction strength is important to know. Pressures above the high 200s can cause you pain. Your nipples do turn darker when you are breastfeeding. But if this causes bruising, you will need to adjust the pump’s pressure.
