Silicone Breast Implants
My mother lived with me for her last two years. She died at the age of 58. At 56, she suffered a brain aneurysm, then had surgery for a large tumor in her intestines. The cancer was all inside her and on her liver and in the lining etc. The doctor said that she would live for 30 years. She died 1 year later.
My question is, in earlier years she had breast augmentation and had them removed and replaced. She had joined the Dow Corning lawsuit and it is still in litigation. As this story goes on I should write it down because I cry every time I try to finish her business. I have had surgery, too (same doctor). My sister has, too. She just had cancer taken off her face. She is in Florida. I had spots taken off my cervix over 8 years ago; still don't know what they are. Is there any proof or findings that silicone implant causes cancer or brain aneurysms?
Answer:
Health Canada claims, In the past, scientific literature raised a number of concerns regarding possible systemic illnesses that might be associated with silicone gel-filled breast implants. As you know, the sale of silicone implants was stopped in both Canada and the U.S. in 1992 until further studies could be done. Health Canada claims that, to date, there is no definite answer to this issue. The studies do point out the need for women to understand the potential risks involved with breast implants. They also indicate a need for further studies to address other risks.
