If you decide to breastfeed your infant, you will need to purchase a range of supplies that will help improve the quality of your experience and serve very specific breastfeeding needs.
First and foremost, you will find that your breasts spontaneously leak. Most women prefer not to have wet splotches on their shirtfronts so opt to insert breast pads into their bras. Breast pads are reusable or disposable. Some are more absorbent than others. Check out a range of breast pads on our breastfeeding accessories page.
Purchasing a selection of good nursing bras is a must. A nursing mother needs to have convenient and easy access to her breast for those quick public feeds.
Nipples will need special care and attention during breastfeeding. There are nipple shields available to help dry out the nipple and a selection of lanolin ointment for cracked and sore nipples.
If you plan to return to the work force or are interested in some time on your own, you will want to invest in a breast pump. We provide a list of options that you should consider before investing in a breast pump.
Special stools and pillows have been designed to help keep you physically comfortable and free from pain. See our breastfeeding accessories page for more information.
And of course there are a libraries worth of books that have been written to offer up sage advise and breastfeeding tips about the marvels of breastfeeding. We feature dozens of these titles though out this site.
