Fruits & Veggies Recommended for Post-Breast Cancer Patients
Consuming a healthy diet – especially one rich in fresh fruits and vegetables - has gained much attention from breast cancer researchers of late. A recent article published in the Journal of Clinical Oncology, reinforces that fruits and vegetables should be piled high on the plates of those diagnosed with early stage breast cancer.
The article reviews data from a March 1995 study that evaluated 1,551 women diagnosed with early stage breast cancer. An increase of fruits and vegetables in their diets was shown to reduce the risk of cancer recurrence post treatment. Only 205 women (8% of the study group) experienced breast cancer recurrence or developed a new form of cancer.
