Kylie Minogue's parents live only a few kilometres from me in Melbourne and that's where Kylie's operation took place.

It has had wall to wall coverage over here. I was listening to the radio when the story broke.

I haven't been sure how to respond to it. On the one hand, lot's of people get breast cancer and it is horrible news every time. Why should it be differentt when the person is famous?

On the other hand it is has done a lot to raise breast cancer awareness. There have been full page spreads about the disease, its forms, breast self examiniation and treatment. So that's got to be good.

I thought of you, Sue, when I heard the news but hesitated to write because of the dilemma I was feeling.
